  1. That looks delish, i wanna make those, it looks much healthier than all the lard or butter they use in the other recipes lol. I wanna try more Vegan Recipes because they seem healthier & I also wanna lose weight, I just don’t wanna deprive myself but this recipe looks good n easy to make.

    1. They are delicious. Very low in fat. Great if you want to lose weight. I have lost 73 pounds eating this way.Just keep your fat intake low and make sure you overeat on whole plant foods. Then you will be to full to eat the junk food. Thanks for watching.

    2. +I Went Vegan , wow 73 lbs. on wfpb thats amazing, thanks for the tip bcuz i know every now & then i do have junk food cravings

    1. I Went Vegan i made tamales before i went vegan and have been playing with different recipes. the one i stuck with is jackfruit. have u ever cooked with it? they sell it canned and it is an excellent meat replacement often used for bbq recipes
totally late on the comment lol oh but the masa dough should be consistency of peanut butter. i saw ur earlier response that u add more veg broth but thinking of creamy peanut butter helps me get the right consistency

    2. I Went Vegan Also apple cider vinegar can help with ur cough πŸ™‚
i drink about a tablespoon with apple juice every morning. it helps with my post nasal drip

  2. Oh my gosh! I’ve recently started this way of eating and was looking for a no oil tamale recipe because I heard Dr. McDougall say that he liked them. I’m in New Mexico and there is a famous tamale place that I just found out uses no oil in their masa recipe so I started searching to see if anyone else has done it. Yay! Thank you! Adorable family. You should consider stating that it’s a vegan, no oil recipe somewhere in the title;). Gracias!

    1. +MyMonkeyMinions That’s a great idea. Let me know how the tamales turn out. Thanks for watching.

    2. I’ve started adding fluffy mashed potatoes to lighten up the masa dough. I may be slapped by my Mexican grandma for not using lard, but it’s worth clean arteries. Also works in making fluffy tortillas too!

    3. +The Tortilla Industry Thats a great idea. I need to update this tamale recipe video. I put more veggie broth and I also ad applesauce to the masa dough. They come out way moister. They taste better then the lard ones and their guilt free. Probably the only tamales you will loose weight eating.

    1. The one time is enough. Some times I steam the tamales in a canning pot. The pot has a rack on the bottom it usually 2 inches above the bottom of the pot. I will fill the pot with about 1″ 1/2 Inch of water or you can check the pot periodically.

  3. u can do a mexican classic.. its the masa dough u put a slice of jalapeno and a slice of Mounster white cheese

    1. +Betsy Channell Thanks she is growing into such a Beautiful little girl. She’s one of the reasons that I eat healthy. So I can be around to see her grow up and have the energy to play with here and Blake. I have a new tamales recipe that blows this one away. I just need to film it .I’m going to try and do this before Christmas. Thanks for watching.

    1. +Michael Denny I have a new recipe that blows this one away. I will be making that video before Christmas. Just make sure the enchilada sauce is oil free.

    1. +Say Hello Chica Thanks I feel great. This video was made so long ago.You should see me now. I’m down to 200lbs. When I stared to eat healthy I weighed 300lbs. I’m still a work in progress. My diet isn’t perfect. Sometimes the vegan junk food slips it’s way in. At least I don’t gain any weight from it. As long as you eat 80% whole plant foods and stay active most of the time. That seems to do the trick. Thanks for watching.

    1. Alex Gomez I used maseca this Christmas but I got the gluten-free one, I’m interested in tying a diff brand πŸ™‚

  4. I lost 70lbs so far, yeah w all that sniffling wheezing and coughing I wonder how??? Hmm πŸ˜’ meth or coke, uppers perhaps

    1. Thanks I’m glad I could help. I have an even better recipe now that’s even easier to do. I just need to film the video

  5. Can’t wait to try your recipe. My mouth is watering now. Gonna check out your other recipes. Happy Easter πŸ£πŸ‡πŸ°

    1. Thanks for watching I have a new and improved tamale recipe. All I need is some time to make the video

    1. When you make them try using almond milk in the masa instead of water. They come out way moister Also make the Masa more moist. In the video I had it dryer to make it easier to work with. Also you can use wax paper to form the tamales. They come out nice and uniform and they don’t stick to the wax paper like they do when you try and form them in the corn husks. After you form them in the wax paper transfer them to the corn husk then wrap the corn husk with the wax paper to hold the corn together. Good luck and thanks for watching . One of these days I will get my new and improved tamale recipe filmed

  6. I love that other people of different ethnicity can make tamales!! I love Mex ican food!!!!
